Criminal Law Accredited Specialist

 For over 20 years Gerard Mitchell 'Accredited Criminal Law Specialist' has established a reputation for providing expert legal representation.

Gerard was admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW in 1998 and has been certified by The Law Society NSW as an Accredited Specialist since 2005.

 

Gerard specialises in all areas of Criminal Law and related proceedings such as Murder and Personal Violence Law, Drug Law, Criminal Asset Recovery Proceedings, prosecution and defence of Apprehended Personal Violence Orders and Apprehend Personal Domestic Violence Orders and all matters related to Traffic Law and driving.

 

Graduating from The University Of Western Australia Law School (in Perth) with two degrees - Bachelor Of Commerce and Bachelor Of Laws he then decided to expand his horizons and took up a position in Sydney, simultaneously completing a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice through The College Of Law.

 

Instead of returning to Perth to practice after a couple of years, he was recruited to instruct in one of NSW's largest ever criminal trials (arising out of investigations from the Wood Royal Commission). From this, he was quickly in the Criminal Law spotlight and became identifiable as one of the young emerging Criminal Lawyers of the legal profession.

Before heading up Mitchell & Co. Lawyers, Gerard was The Senior Lawyer in the Sydney Criminal Practice of R.F Bergagnin & Company Solicitors and Attorneys.

He maintains a community commitment by annually offering his services to lecture school and aspiring legal students during Law Week. Also when his busy private practice permits, he accepts assignments from Legal Aid NSW as a result of his appointed positions on The Indictable and Complex Criminal Law Panels. 

 

He has also moulded the careers of individuals who have started out with Clarkships under him and gone on to impressive legal careers of their own inside the Australian and NSW legal fraternities. 

Outside his professional life, Gerard has been a representative sportsman in cricket, AFL, baseball and swimming. He maintains his interests in both cricket and AFL. He is a life member of the Sydney University Australian National Football Club, past Committee and Board Member and long standing Tribunal Advocate. 

Importantly Gerard remains grounded by his family and his commitments as a married father of two.

Anna was admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW in 2016 after graduating from the University of Western Sydney with a Bachelor of Laws and going on to complete a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice through The College of Law.  

 

Anna currently practices in all areas of Criminal Law but her knowledge extends to a range of different legal areas. She appears in the various Courts of NSW and consistently strives to achieve the best results for her clients. 

 

Anna has also completed a Diploma of Legal Services at Australian Careers Business College where she graduated top of her class, receiving the Dux Litterarum Award. 

 

Before starting at Mitchell & Co Lawyers, Anna was employed at R. F. Bergagnin & Co. Solicitors & Attorneys where she practised and gained valuable knowledge in the areas of Property Law, Conveyancing, Commercial Law, & Wills & Estate Planning. 

 

Anna has chosen to further her legal education and is currently pursuing a Master of Laws Degree at the University of Wollongong. 

 

Anna also maintains a community commitment by volunteering at local Community Legal Centres around Western Sydney at any opportunity she has available. 

Outside her professional life, Anna enjoys time with her family,  continuing in her studies in speaking Mandarin and snowboarding.

Executive Assistant - Margaret Coyte

Originally from Concord, Margaret attended attended St Joseph’s Business College in Leichhardt. 

Prior to becoming a Legal Executive Assistant, Margaret worked with the Waterside Workers Federation (Federal Office) and Australia Post and also for The Maritime Union of Australia when the Waterside Workers Federation and Seamen’s Union amalgamated.

Margaret has also worked in the Aged Care Sector which has given her additional experience in caring and looking after people in the community.
 

Gerard and Margaret have worked side by side for over 10 years.

Outside her professional life, Margaret loves spending time her family and along with her husband plays a pivotal role in running her family logistics business.

Business Manager - Lauren Mitchell

Lauren Mitchell is proof that attention to detail and business acumen are a recipe for success. With over 20 years experience Lauren has a career background in marketing and business. Blending these assets in her role as a Business Manager, has seen Lauren develop into a Master Consultant running thriving businesses.

 

Having completed her studies, Lauren recognised the need and importance of systemising businesses.. Lauren manages the marketing,, customer care and the day to day operations of the practice alongside Gerard..

With years of business training in coaching in NLP under her belt, Lauren has been a valued speaker at WPPI Convention in Las Vegas and for the NSW AIPP on the principles of great customer care.

Lauren was invited as a guest speaker on Magnetic Island for the Nth QLD Australian Institute of Professional Photographers, "Wow what an event!! Lauren Mitchell spoke about her style on management and business techniques. Lauren blew the crowd away with her knowledge and inspiration." 

Outside her professional life, Lauren loves a busy life being a mother of two, enjoys running half marathons and staying fit.
